Former Special Presidential Envoy for Climate (SPEC) John Kerry signed the LIFE-AR Compact on behalf of the United States at a Signing Ceremony hosted by the U.S. Pavilion during COP26 in Glasgow.
This signaled the US support of the LDC’s intention to channel 70% of climate finance flows to accelerate action on the ground in LDCs by 2030. The United States joined the LIFE-AR Board in 2022, and has since committed $9.5 million to LIFE-AR.
The support for LIFE-AR is part and parcel of a broader effort within the U.S. government to collaborate with partners to accelerate climate adaptation and resilience in a way that supports gender-responsive, locally-led adaptation.
